An 11-year-old boy is recovering in a hospital after being shot in northwest Atlanta, according to police. The incident occurred last night outside an apartment building on Middleton Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Emergency crews rushed the child to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
A witness at the scene, who chose not to appear on camera, told reporters she saw the shooting unfold while sitting outside nearby. According to her account, the situation began as a heated argument involving several individuals. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence when one person allegedly pulled out a gun and began firing.
“The girl in the black and grey pulled the gun out first. She just went boom, boom, boom, then the girl in all black, she shot,” the witness said.
As the gunfire erupted, both adults and children in the area reportedly ran in panic, desperately trying to find safety and avoid being hit. Crime scene tape was later placed around the area as investigators worked to gather evidence and determine exactly what led to the shooting.
Police have not yet released information about suspects or possible arrests.
