Donald Roman Gosnell Franklin, KY-Death, Obituary: Donald Gosnell, 61, Devoted Family Man and Truck Driver, Remembered

Donald Roman Gosnell, age 61, of Franklin, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born on May 7, 1964, in his hometown of Franklin, Donald lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility to those he loved.

Donald worked as a truck driver for Philmo, a profession that perfectly suited his independent spirit and appreciation for the open road. He found comfort and purpose in his work, spending countless hours traveling highways while providing for himself and supporting those around him. Outside of his career, Donald found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed the excitement of race day, as well as the peaceful solitude of fishing, where he could reflect and unwind.

Though Donald never had children of his own, his life was defined by the love he gave to his family. Following the passing of his sister, he stepped into the role of guardian for his niece, Jackie, raising her with care, guidance, and unwavering devotion. He became not only her provider, but also a father figure, offering stability, encouragement, and unconditional love. His willingness to take on this responsibility spoke volumes about his character and the depth of his compassion.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ingrid (Schneider) Gosnell; his sister, Sissy Gosnell; his niece, Heather Gosnell Wooten; and his nephew, D.J. Vantrease. Though he experienced significant loss throughout his life, he remained steadfast and committed to those who depended on him.

He is survived by his nieces, Jackie Gosnell and Susie Gosnell, both of Franklin, as well as three great-nieces and three great-nephews. His legacy lives on through them, in the values he instilled and the love he so freely gave.

Donald will be remembered as a hardworking man with a generous heart, someone who found fulfillment not in recognition, but in doing what was right for his family. His life serves as a quiet but powerful reminder of the impact one person can have through selflessness and care.

A graveside service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory of Franklin, Kentucky.
